Techtonic biography

Techtonic consists of two talented young producers, Gábor (Szántó) and Csaba (Hajdu) who were both born and raised in the classical European City of Budapest. Techtonic biography

Csaba is a multi instrumentalist, learning to play flute at an early age and then taking up piano (taught by Zsolt Kaltenecker, the most talented young jazz pianist in Hungary), he then moved onto learning the trumpet. As a result of Csaba's upbringing, his preferred style of music is classical (taking inspiration from composers including Bach and Haydn), although he has a broad musical taste and cites William Orbit, Wyclef Jean and Madonna as some of his modern influences.

Gábor, on the other hand, is a self-confessed computer freak. His father, an engineer for a well known group in Hungary called "Bergendy Band", inspired Gábor from an early age. This technical skill and knowledge was passed onto Gábor and they would regularly put on parties at his school when he was a teenager, building everything from the speakers to the lighting system. Gábor started DJing at these parties when he was 13 and has been playing regularly in Hungary ever since. He spent his early dance years listening to techno and synthesiser based high NRG, but his musical tastes are also broad, citing DJ Tonka as being one of his greatest house influences.

Csaba and Gábor met during high school when a mutual friend introduced them while Csaba was composing music for a school drama performance in 1996. After 2 months working with each other, Csaba's parents bought him his first ever synthesiser, a Roland XP10. In the summer of 2000 Gábor bought a PC with a music programme and shortly after sent their first demo.

Their first success was "Debut", which was released by Strictly Rhythm in 2002. The promo has reached high positions on the DJMag's hype chart and was popular in the Ibiza summer of 2002. Unfortunately 2 weeks before the official release, the label ceased operation.

During the year of 2003 they had several appearances on some great trance compilations (Pure Trance, Love2Trance) with the tracks 'Destiny' and 'Homework'. Their remix for the Hungarian band 'Unique' had success in Hungary, with several high dance chart and sales positions.

In the February of 2004. Techtonic's 'Instead of words' was the demo of the month on Ministry of Sound's Runa Sessions radio show. It's a housey trance track, because Techtonic's goal is to break the borders between trance and funk-house, to produce high energy melodical but funky tracks.

'Keep on movin' was the next track in this new line and their second single on the international, and especially the UK market. Every small piece and preset is produced by Techtonic, every single note on the piano, each sample. They don't use groove CDs or sample patterns, the one exception in this great track is the small speech part. Techtonic is a real original band and 'Keep on movin' is an original track which differs in sound and producing from the mainstream of funk-house.

Techtonic is sleeping currently but one should never know when they will restart it.
